Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and focused air traffic controller who can handle multiple tasks under pressure. The main responsibilities of an air traffic controller include maintaining communication with aircraft and other air traffic centers, monitoring weather conditions, wind, and visibility, and giving instructions to pilots about runway availability and clearance for takeoff or landing. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor and regulate ground and air traffic
- Provide important information about weather, wind, flight paths, potential delays, and runway closures
- Communicate with other air traffic control centers, pilots, and airport staff to ensure safety and relay estimated arrival times
- Use maps, reports, radios, telephones, computers, radar, and other technologies to stay updated and respond to changes in conditions
- Alert response teams in case of emergencies or safety concerns
- Assist in search and rescue operations for missing aircraft
- Analyze data and reports to improve flight plans and minimize delays
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a thorough background check and meet age, citizenship, and physical requirements
- Additional education or experience may be preferred
- Completion of training programs
- Additional certifications may be required
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Familiarity with technology, including radio and computer equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
