Henry J. Austin Health Center (HJAHC) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Trenton, New Jersey. Established in 1969, we are dedicated to providing quality, accessible primary health care services that are rooted in our commitment to upholding respect and dignity for all of our patients.
HJAHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) which serves predominantly uninsured or medically underserved populations. Our mission is to reduce barriers to quality health care and increase access for everyone. Our four locations across the city provide a wide array of services including adult medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, HIV treatment, dental care, podiatry, ophthalmology, nutrition, social service, substance abuse assessment and intervention, behavioral health, translation services, transportation, and an onsite pharmacy. We accept most forms of health insurance including Medicare and Medicaid, and provide a sliding fee scale for the uninsured.
Named after Dr. Henry J. Austin, an African-American Princeton resident who came to Trenton to practice medicine, HJAHC is the largest non-hospital based ambulatory care provider in the city. We are proud to serve over 13,000 individuals each year and generate over 50,000 visits.
At Henry J. Austin Health Center, we are committed to providing accessible, comprehensive, quality health care that values respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity. Our dedicated staff is here to ensure that every patient receives the care they need and deserve.
