OpsTech IT Wireless Engineering owns delivering software-defined, automated, and incrementally scalable Wireless network infrastructure products that improve the reliability of our wireless services for Amazon?s fulfillment centers and transportation sites, worldwide. As part of this work Engineers are responsible for iterating on the existing design and/or creating new wireless designs that better meet customer needs. These wireless solutions are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.
The Wireless Network Development Engineer will leverage in-depth knowledge of Wireless networking engineering and operational practices to develop the organizational technical strategy used to ensure improved availability one of the largest wireless networks globally. The candidate will partner with Software, Operations, and Engineering teams, to define, build, and automate the future solutions which will enable faster, scalable management, globally. You will Identify themes and areas of improvement and deliver the software and design changes needed to affect change, through collaboration by partnering with peer teams, coaching less tenured engineers to deliver on your behalf, or executing on your own.

Key job responsibilities
Identifying, developing, and delivering technical solutions that improve the availability of our wireless network technologies.
Partner with peer teams to collectively understand the customer problems and find technological solutions utilizing wired networking technologies.
Define and meter the availability of our existing and future network solutions, ensuring they meet or exceed the needs of our customers.
Identify and deliver solutions that reduce operational impact to customers and enable them with scalable, resilient, and cost optimized services.
Dive Deep on complex problems that identify root causes of our customer impacts, developing and delivering corrective actions.
Evaluating new technologies, lab testing, proof of concept (PoC), run books definition, and pilot deployment.
Innovate and automate infrastructure testing, deployment, operations, and life cycle management
Defining the strategy for future team processes, tools, and , which improve how we maintain and manage them effectively, efficiently, and safely.
Be a part of Global organization that provides 24x7 escalation service on shift rotation basis. Some night and weekend coverage may be required.
Effectively contribute to hiring and developing top talent at Amazon
Develop automation to resolve wireless network failures
Investigate challenging problems to identify root cause and make recommendations for improving the customers experience on Wifi.
Create and update the wireless network design to improve reliability
Mitigate and Solve Network Availability Risks
Partner with peer networking teams on overall network design to provide feedback and improvements from the wireless network perspective.
Participate in an on call rotation
Implement metrics to measure wireless availability and identify performance risks

Basic Qualifications
1+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
Deep understanding of IP network fundamentals and packet capture analysis
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
Experience designing high-density AP and client deployments
Expert knowledge of IP networking technologies and concepts, including routing and switching
