Position Description
Wellington is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking math teacher to inspire and guide students in the exploration of mathematics. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping students discover their purpose and realize their potential for tomorrow's world. The position involves teaching five sections of math classes, serving as an engaged faculty member, acting as an advisor to upper school students, and contributing to the development and enhancement of the math department's curriculum. The ideal candidate will teach 2-3 upper school math courses which could include algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, precalculus, calculus, statistics, and / or electives.
Key Responsibilities
Teach five sections (yearlong or trimester-length courses).
Deliver engaging and innovative instruction in yearlong or trimester-long electives.
Actively participate in the school community, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to a positive and dynamic academic environment.
Serve as an advisor to upper school students, providing guidance and support in their academic and personal development.
Pursue and engage in ongoing professional development opportunities aligned with the school's mission and goals.
Collaborate with colleagues to develop new departmental courses and contribute to the continuous improvement of existing course offerings.
Recognize and implement diverse teaching strategies and assessment methods that foster collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills.
Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers of students and advisees to keep them aware of student progress.
Requirements
Love and passion for teaching mathematics to high school students
Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in mathematics or related field
Experience in the classroom teaching high school students preferred
Demonstrated experience in
o cultural competency in teaching practices.
o managing a classroom with a focus on creating a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
o differentiating instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
o assessing and documenting student growth through observations, record-keeping, and various formal assessments.
o planning and implementing an integrated curriculum using informed and innovative approaches.
