Underwriter - Digital Platform

Essential Functions: Underwriting business loan requests for all types of commercial lending through an online borrower facing loan application platform. We analyze financial data and provide a recommendation for the credit decision including information to support the recommendation in an online format utilizing Excel worksheets and templates. Must be able to create cash flows and determine repayment ability.

Requirements

Necessary Skills: Read and interpret both business and personal tax returns; create global cash flows from financial documents (tax returns, pro forma, credit reports, etc.). Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel); ability to work in a technology-driven environment; ability to work in a team environment; ability to work independently; detail-oriented; strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with borrowers and lenders (written and verbal); interested in learning and developing; able to advocate and ask questions to facilitate learning.

Qualifications: Education equivalent to a college degree in business administration, finance or accounting is preferred. Five or more years of consumer or commercial underwriting experience may substitute for degree requirement. Ability to read, review, analyze, and understand financial statements such as those contained in tax forms. Understanding business credit structure is a plus. Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial statement reporting is also a plus.
