Job Summary

Imagine yourself working in a state-of-the-art laboratory! As a KBR Thin Film Growth intern, you will work with scientists and engineers in the Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate, Electronic Devices Branch at Wright-Patterson AFB near Dayton, OH. Your focus will be on Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) growth of ?-Ga2O3 and GaN for high-power and radio frequency electronic applications. You will be a member of a diverse team leading the Air Force in the development of electronic sensing devices for next generation military aerospace systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Materials Growth: grow ?-Ga2O3 and GaN semiconductor materials using MOCVD

Materials Characterization: measure and analyze key properties or characteristics of materials to understand how it behaves and performs

Work Environment:

Location: Onsite at AFRL on Wrigh-Patterson AFB

Travel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%; No planned travel

Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week

Qualifications:

Required:

Security Clearance: Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance

Education: must be pursuing an advanced degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or other related field

Material Growth: experience in semiconductor epitaxial growth by MOCVD or related methods; expertise in optimizing growth parameters and familiarity with the operation of growth tools.

Thin Film Characterization: Expertise thin-film characterization (x-ray diffraction, atomic force microscope, Hall measurements).

Thin Flim Growth Theory: excellent understanding of thin-film growth theory.

Computer Literate: must know how to use computers and software applications.

Desired:

Self-Motivated: self-motivated and able to work independently.

Communications Skills: have good communication skills, both oral and written.
