Position Title: Solutions Architect (SA) Intern for Science & Space (S&S)
Location: Fulton, MD and Merrifield, VA (Remote position with 20% time in the office) (Candidates from D.C. region are strongly preferred)
Duration: Summer 2025 (June- August 2025)
Overview:
KBR is seeking highly motivated college students to join Science & Space?s Business Development (BD) organization in a solutions architecture role. This internship opportunity will provide challenging and meaningful work experience as part of our 2025 summer Intern class. The main responsibilities include working with the business development team in pursuit of government contracts focused on NASA mission, military health and human performance services, and Federal Civilian agency mission technology solutions. The SA interns will be mentored and guided by full time Solutions Architects to obtain a full understanding the importance of the role and to become involved with the full lifecycle of program pursuits and solutioning. Additionally, the team will become familiar with large scale government contracting process and techniques to become successful awardees of large-scale programs.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Working as part of the solutions architecture team to create differentiating solutions for our government pursuits. This will include participating in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative approaches for high-impact projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine business processes, tools, and technical solutions. In this role you will help analyze existing systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and propose actionable recommendations supported by data. Supporting the creation of presentations, white papers, and reports for internal stakeholders and government clients will occur regularly. Communicating findings and recommendations effectively through written reports and group presentations are examples of the resulting outputs. Additional responsibilities may include learning and being involved with the basis of estimate (BOE) process.
Basic Qualifications:
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master?s program in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related fields.
Rising Junior or higher
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex systems and propose improvements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with a collaborative mindset; enjoys working in team environments.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in teams and displaying critical thinking skills
Familiarity with data analytics
Exposure to technical problem-solving or financial analysis is a plus
Financial/business skills and /or education coupled with technical skills is ideal
Reporting Structure:
The intern will report directly to the Senior Director of Solution Architecture within S&S as part of the S&S Business Development team. The position will also take direction and be mentored by several members of the SA team and within BD. This is a highly collaborative position which will work closely with both business development and operations teams.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on real-world challenges while developing foundational skills in solutions architecture, technical analysis, and financial analysis.
Basic Compensation
$20.43 - $30.67 per hour
The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate?s working location, knowledge, skills, and abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
