Job Description


Auria is looking to hire Software Engineers (multiple positions, multiple levels) to support the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program. The primary work location is in either Colorado Springs, CO or Huntsville, AL.

The candidates will be responsible for software development inJavafor one of the Regional Applications teams in Colorado Springs and Huntsville (Enterprise Services, Planner, Modeling & Simulation, User Interface). Under minimal direction, provides specialized expertise within multiple systemsandsoftware disciplinesand general knowledge of related disciplines, applications implications, and customer areas. Leadership positions on small software-focused teams may be required.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
  • Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products.
  • Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.
  • Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation.
  • Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require minor instruction and guidance in other phases.
  • Leadership position on small software focused teams may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.

  • Current active in-scope DoD issued SECRET security clearance is required to start.
  • DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) is required to start.
  • Software engineering and software development with strong Java/J2EE experience.
  • Extensive experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits.
  • Experience and knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management.
  • Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux and Windows.
  • Knowledge of server-side/database developmentandcomputer system administration
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance and operational issues, identifying root causes, and recommending, designing, and implementing solutions.
  • Proven ability/experience to mentor and teach junior engineers.
  • Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced team environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.
  • Use of standard software development and management tools such as:
    • Maven
    • Git/GitHub
    • Nexus
    • Eclipse
    • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Designing and building user interfaces.
  • Experience with performance modeling.
  • Experience with microservices.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and/or build management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile team leadership experience is desired
  • Command and Control system application development.
  • Experience with Software Integration and formal testing.
  • Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams
  • Knowledge and experience implementing Cyber Security/RMF requirements.
  • Ability to present advanced concepts to non-software engineers, including senior program and military leaders.

Salary Range: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications - skills, education & experience - and the position level ($81,000 - $140,000).

  • Level 2: 2 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 3: 5 years' experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 3 years' experience with a master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field
  • Level 4: 9 years' experience with a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field; 7 years' experience with a master's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related field
