SmartLab Trainer

The Position:

Creative Learning Systems (CLS)/SmartLab is committed to providing our schools with practical, pedagogically sound, and innovative virtual/remote training. The SmartLab Trainer directly supports our mission of empowering and growing a diverse STEM educator workforce through active, collaborative, ongoing, authentic and evidence-driven learning opportunities that enhance their expertise and practices equipping them to meet the diverse needs of students and prepare them for future careers.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct collaborative and comprehensive virtual training for new SmartLab teachers, covering all aspects of the SmartLab approach - offering mentorship, sharing expertise in PBL, and facilitateing the adoption of best practices with cohort participants.
• Follow training facilitation guides to create engaging and appropriate learning experiences that are executed across cohorts with fidelity.
• Assist teachers in understanding and applying the SmartLab Design Process, including aligning SmartLab curricula with their school's/state's standards and objectives.
• Guide teachers in the effective use of SmartLab technologies, ensuring they are comfortable and proficient in using the tools and resources available.
• Maintain and complete administrative tasks and communications supporting the effective functioning of the cohort.
• Ability to commit to a training schedule that spans multiple weeks with evenings and/or weekend meeting times (cohorts meet virtually once per week for 5 weeks).

Required Qualifications:

• Current or past SmartLab Facilitator, Trainer, Instructional Coach strongly preferred.
• Currently implementing SmartLab Explorer and/or Pathfinder preferred but not required.
• Experience with virtual presentation tools.
• Excellent presentation and communications skills through a virtual setting.
• Ability to work independently and to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• You'll really capture our attention if you:
• Have 2-4 years of delivering professional development and/or coaching experiences to educators in Science or STEM.
• Have experience in K-8 teaching with emphasis in problem-based learning and/or STEM.
