Senior Structural Engineer - Transportation

Based in New York and reporting to the Vice President of Construction Engineering, the Senior Structural Engineer - Transportation Structures will focus on structural design and analysis with of transportation structures including subway stations, underground structures, elevated rail structures, and bridges. This role will include project delivery, project management, client interaction, production of structural documents, and construction administration. The Senior Structural Engineer - Transportation Structures will oversee the work of several Junior and Intermediate engineers and ensure that all work is carried out in full support of our Quality Control procedures and our Vision, Mission, Values and One Company culture.

What will you do?

• Responsible for the designing and detailing of structural elements related to transportation structures, including design and calculations, computer modelling, and analysis.

• Assembling of engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
• Delivers projects from initial conception through completion within scope, managing project delivery budget and schedule.
• Coordinate Entuitive's design with other external members of the design team
• Monitors objectives related to engineering, design standards/design review, technical specifications, document control, budget and work breakdown structures, project schedules, resource prioritization, and staffing requirements.
• Leads client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
• Proactively mentors junior and intermediate designers/engineers in the technical aspects of design and the practical aspects of assembling contract documents.
• Take a hands-on approach in providing technical expertise and guidance on various projects to ensure a high level of service, including development of structural concepts and methodology, value engineering, evaluation of structural systems, and quality review of structural production.
• Take a proactive approach to promote Entuitive's services with a focus on attracting new clients and business opportunities, while retaining existing clients.
• Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign from time to time.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

• An engineering degree with a focus on civil and structural engineering.

• Professional Engineer license required in the State of New York.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the AEC industry.
• Direct project experience on urban transportation structure projects including work with the MTA, NJ Transit, Amtrak, the PANYNJ, and/or transit authorities in the New York region or other major urban centers.
• Design Manager experience is preferred.
• Experience with accessibility or vertical transportation projects is consider an asset.
• Experience working in Design -Build projects is preferred.
• Knowledgeable in the appropriate building codes.
• Knowledge of transit agency standards is considered an asset.
• Experience with State of Good Repair projects is considered an asset and retrofit of existing structures considered an asset.
• Strong project management skills with ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget within a large project team.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and assist with business development initiatives.
• Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAFE, SAP2000, RAM, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
• Knowledge and interest related to embodied carbon is considered an asset

Benefits

• Salary Range: $110,000 - $160,000 USD.This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law.
