Senior Software Engineer - Product

About the role:

Commenda is rapidly adding new lines of business and expanding into more countries. In the last month, we shipped US sales tax, Canadian incorporation, and an app for our partner accountants to manage workflows. You'll be helping us grow.

We're looking for a senior full-stack software engineer who can own for one of our products, such as incorporation, corporate tax filings, or transaction taxes (like VAT, GST, and US sales tax).

Your work will include:

• Taking a full-stack product from the prototype stage to a fleshed-out product. Identifying and adding missing features and flows.
• Working closely with a product owner who understands business needs. Planning and executing on the development of their product and the growth of their line of business.
• Working with and extending Commenda's core data model. You will work closely with the team responsible for CommendaOS, our system of record for corporation data. You will play a crucial role in identifying any missing elements of the unified data model and helping to add them. You will also own the portions of the data model related to your product.

Tech Stack:

Frontend: React, typescript, next.js

Backend: Nest.js, node, typescript, prisma, postgres.

This role is in-person, in Bangalore or San Francisco. We work in-office daily Monday through Friday.

Requirements

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years writing code professionally
• Experience building full-stack web applications. Deep expertise with either frontend or backend, and willingness and ability to learn.
• No specific programming language background required! We believe that great engineers can ramp up quickly.

Bonus qualifications:

• Direct experience with relevant product domains like payroll, cap table management, accounting, or tax compliance
• Some experience with devops
• Previous experience working with international teams

While no college degree is preferred, exceptional candidates with diplomas will receive consideration for this role.
