Job Description
Role Profile:
The Truck Operations Manager is an execution and transformation focused position to be based in Kingsport, TN that leads a functional team critical to support short lead time domestic customer demand.
The Truck Operations Manager must possess strong decision-making skills to quickly process information and propose a recommendation to support business needs when assets are constrained.
This leader must be an excellent communicator to facilitate dialogue amongst all partnering organizations.
The Truck Ops Manager must also be able to seamlessly pivot between the current horizon and a 3 - 5 year strategy.
Responsibilities
Maintain clear view of Eastman safety expectations with contracted carriers
Direct supervisor for domestic road transportation planning team including talent development plans for team.
First escalation point for service issues
Build strong operations relationship with core carrier base
Lead performance reviews with carrier base
Connect with Logistics Business Managers to understand critical business initiative and develop a plan to support
Social forecasted demand changes with loading areas
Thought partner for annual RFP
Process gap identification and project management skills are a strong plus to increase team effectiveness
Qualifications
Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of 8-9 direct reports. Has formal supervisor responsibilities; sets priorities for, and coaches team members to meet objectives. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures, and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager.
Requires thorough understanding and application of procedures and concepts within own discipline and basic knowledge of other disciplines.
Bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree is preferred.
5+ years of related industry experience in a leadership role.
Robust analytics skills.
Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Successful history managing carrier performance.
SAP knowledge is desired.
