As an Engineer involved in the production crystalline semiconductors substrates you will focus on execution and process improvements of critical materials for Infrared Sensors at Raytheon Vision Systems, a provider of leading-edge sensing technology. We are looking for an individual who must demonstrate a safety-first work routine.
A scientist/engineer who supports production goals and participates in the development of state-of-the-art, cost competitive, single crystal substrates for next generation advanced IR sensors. As part of a multi-functional team, you will be involved in process improvements through critical metrology data analysis, equipment support, tooling development and the development of meaningful, trackable process metrics.
Developing detailed knowledge of individual substrate production steps including associated metrology is essential. Examples include materials handling in glovebox, chemical polishing, quartz vessel (ampoule) assembly and cleaning. Metrology of particular importance is FTIR. Through metrology you will assess process variability utilizing software tools, and apply advanced mathematical methods and statistical analysis, to assure repeatability in production.
Crystalline substrate fabrication requires to be able to work in a controlled, clean-room environment as well as developing fundamental understanding of production equipment such as precision sawing, polishing and chemical treatments. You will work in a team environment that will require detailed communication to direct technicians and to interface with colleagues collaboratively. You will be participating in production meetings in addition to engineering projects. Understanding of production goals with associated urgency of schedule is equally important to research and development. In that role you will further engage collaboratively with internal and external customers involved in diode growths via Molecular Beam Epitaxy or Liquid Phase Epitaxy.
What You Will Do
Work in environmentally controlled areas, cleanrooms, laboratories etc
Use mathematical methods for data analysis
Apply statistical methods and assess its relevance for process control
Work with common metrology techniques to characterize chemical compounds such as FTIR
Work with common laboratory tools and equipment
Use common software tools for data manipulation, data extraction and mechanical design such as: Creo, Solid Works, Matlab, Python, MS Excel, ProE,
Work under inert conditions to prevent air oxidation
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or a (STEM) degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree.
Experience is semiconductor environment.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
Familiar with semiconductor production process
Experience with ISO compliance and WIP tracking systems
Basic understanding of bulk Crystal growth & semiconductor diodes
Experience in handling of fragile materials and delicate hardware.
Experience in production environment and multi-disciplinary engineering environment
Familiar with controlled areas, cleanrooms, laboratories etc
Directly work with semiconductor materials & process chemicals
Experience with software tools for data analysis and able to generate CAD drawings.
A motivated and self-starting individual who interacts well in a team environment that includes both company colleagues and customers.

The salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 144,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate?s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
