About Sankofa Montessori

Sankofa Montessori embarked on its educational journey as a public charter school, receiving its charter from the Georgia State Charter School Commission in 2021. We officially opened our doors in July 2023, starting our adventure with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades. As we chart our course, we added a 3rd grade in our second year and will be adding 4th grade during the upcoming school year, school year 25-26. Requirements

Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students with communication needs in a supportive and inclusive educational environment. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and provide direct services to students with speech, language, voice, and fluency challenges, with a focus on helping all students access the full curriculum and develop effective communication skills.

Role Responsibilities:

Assessment & Evaluation

  • Conduct speech-language assessments for students referred through special education or the MTSS process
  • Participate in eligibility and IEP meetings, offering insight on communication needs
  • Monitor student progress and update assessments as needed

Direct Services

  • Provide individual and small group therapy to students with IEPs or identified communication needs
  • Develop and implement IEP goals related to articulation, language, voice, and fluency
  • Integrate strategies to support communication across classroom settings

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Partner with general and special education teachers to support students in inclusive classrooms
  • Offer strategies to staff and families to support language development across settings
  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress and services

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Complete IEP documentation, progress reports, and Medicaid billing (if applicable)
  • Participate in student support meetings and staffings as needed

School-Wide Contribution

  • Contribute to school-wide MTSS initiatives by providing input on student needs and interventions
  • Participate in school planning and coordination of speech-language services
  • Support a positive school culture and be a flexible team member willing to assist school-wide
  • Model effective communication and professionalism in all interactions

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Valid Georgia licensure to provide school-based speech therapy services
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with school-aged children; experience in diverse or Montessori settings is a plus

Working Conditions:

  • Therapy conducted in classroom and small group settings
  • Ability to lift and carry 3050 pounds with assistance; physical activity required as needed
