Quality Builders is looking for a skilled and motivated Lead and estimator and Architect to join our team. You are responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of estimating and architectural design services on our residential projects ranging from $50k to $2M in value. Many of our projects are complex (additions and basement digdowns) and NOT typical kitchen and bath renovations. This role requires a strong understanding of architectural principles, building codes, construction processes, and project management. Most importantly our team needs an innovator who wants to use AI and technology to streamline the design process.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead the estimating and architectural design process from conceptualization to completion, ensuring all designs align with client specifications, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements
• Manage overseas team to efficiently build a streamlined process to finish building plans faster than any other Chicago design build firms.
• Develop 3D models using BIM software to help avoid potential conflicts in the field.
• Attend initial client property walkthroughs to gather necessary measurements Ensure that all designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including zoning laws, environmental impact assessments, and building codes.
• Review initial quantity material take-offs and estimates
• Conduct site visits when necessary and support active projects with ongoing design related issues.
• Maintain a strong understanding of current architectural and construction trends & technologies

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture. Ability to stamp & seal plans.
• City of Chicago self certified architect preferred - at minimum willing to get self-certified Background in city of Chicago zoning, building review, and permitting.
• Proven experience in managing all phases of the architectural design process
• Understanding of material quantity take-offs, production rates and cost analysis
• Proficient in architectural software such as AutoCAD, and other relevant design software.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, and building systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and solve complex design challenges
