Patrol Officer

Under general supervision, receives and responds to citizen inquiries,complaints and calls for assistance. Responds to emergency or high risksituations. Participates in criminal and other investigations. Performsgeneral law enforcement duties including patrolling areas, checkingproperties for security, maintaining order and public safety,apprehending and arresting suspects, questioning suspects, collectingand preserving evidence. Prepares cases for prosecution, Completes andsubmits required records and reports. Assists victims. Remainsup-to-date in federal and state laws as well as local ordinances.Reports to the Corporal-Patrol.Patrol officers now work a permanent shift (either permanent days or permanent nights).

Requirements

Requires a High School Diploma and completion of required criminaljustice training and education, supplemented by a minimum of one totwoyears of experience in a job related field, or an equivalentcombination of education, training and experience that provides therequired knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess S.C. LawEnforcement certification(s) and a valid state driver's license.
