Oracle Developer

Role Purpose & Context
As an Oracle Developer at Nextgen, you will analyze, design, implement, maintain, and support systems development applications based on our business requirements. You will be instrumental in creating optimized, secure Oracle-based solutions that align with the company's technology and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Development and System Improvement

• Design and develop custom database components for both new and existing systems.
• Develop software interfaces and specifications to ensure interoperability across teams.
• Build and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base of software systems, including technical and end-user documentation.
• Design and execute unit test cases, ensuring code quality within a continuous integration environment.
• Participate in iterative development and early testing, regularly updating task progress, raising risks, and coordinating mitigations.

Leadership and User Support

• Provide thought leadership and reliable delivery in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
• Collaborate with internal teams to shape both internal and customer-facing products.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements, deliver functional specifications, and estimate project timelines.
• Partner with business users and analysts to produce detailed technical designs.
• Ensure adherence to change control, source control, and configuration management protocols.
• Follow and advocate for best practices in software development and maintain high standards for delivered software quality.
• Provide first-line support and troubleshooting as needed, ensuring prompt resolution.

Requirements

• Proven expertise in Oracle database technology with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• At least 2 years of experience with Oracle APEX.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL and Oracle development, particularly in creating scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate technical solutions and collaborate effectively.
• Experience in maintaining a live production system and offering proactive suggestions for software enhancements.
• Competent in agile and scrum methodologies, with familiarity in tools like Jira and Confluence.
• Demonstrated commercial experience with Oracle databases and a robust Oracle development skill set.
• Ability to draft technical software design specifications and effectively troubleshoot issues.
• Proactive approach in suggesting software improvements and following sound design principles.
• Commitment to meticulous documentation and change tracking to support future maintenance and audits.
• Attention to detail, persistence, and dedication to delivering high-quality solutions.

Good to Have

• Knowledge of Python API Development Framework (FastAPI, SQLAlchemy ORM, PostgreSQL).
• Exposure to testing frameworks like Pytest, Mypy, Pydantic, and front-end technologies like ReactJS.
