Medical Laboratory Technician

Yoakum Community Hospital is currently looking for an engaging and skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team on a full-time basis. As a Medical Laboratory Technician at Yoakum Community Hospital, you will play an essential role in patient care by performing a variety of laboratory tests that aid in diagnosis and treatment. • Perform routine venipunctures and collect specimens ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
• Conduct chemical, hematological, and microbiological analyses using manual and automated techniques.
• Analyze blood cell morphology and perform blood typing and compatibility testing.
• Evaluate test results and communicate abnormal or critical findings promptly to healthcare providers.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Keep meticulous records of tests, results, and inventory, ensuring laboratory efficiency.
• Participate in ongoing education to stay current with advances in laboratory technology and practices.
• Collaborate closely with medical staff to support comprehensive patient care.

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field from an accredited institution.

• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from a recognized certifying agency.
• Current registration with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in laboratory procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a healthcare team.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
