AmpThinkis looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. For the last 13 years, AmpThink has been a leader in technology integration, focused on the sports and entertainment market. AmpThink has developed mounting, enclosure, and bracket solutions for technology systems that have changed the way installers approach their work. The position offers the opportunity to work within a creative and collaborative team to solve new problems and grow your technical expertise.

AmpThink has a growing range of in-house capabilities including:

  • 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC Machining,
  • CNC Turning,
  • Thermoforming,
  • Sheet Metal Bending, and
  • Grinding

Many of our projects are owned from start to finish, carrying a product from requirements gathering through design, prototyping, production, and installation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work within the Mechanical Design Team to design custom brackets, mounts, and enclosures.
  • Create designs with the intent to manufacture cost effective solutions.
  • Consider in house capabilities and all associated process costs.
  • Participate in Peer Review and where possible,
    • Suggest how use existing or less expensive raw materials,
    • Simplify designs to reduce cost or manufacturing effort,
    • Improve functionality,
    • Identify purchased parts that can be fabricated internally,
    • Refine build tolerances,
    • Confirm that the design is responsive to business requirements, and
    • Ensure the Customer's requirements are being met?
  • Directly interface with shop personnel to troubleshoot issues in manufacturing.
  • Investigate and remediate product failures as needed
  • Potentially perform site walks/visits to direct installation crews on proper steps to assembly.
  • Perform design walkthroughs (virtual screen shares) with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create accurate BOMs and shop drawings to facilitate fabrication.
  • Track time and attendance in applicable software to support accurate customer invoicing.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in a technical role, preferably engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong detailing/documentation skills
  • Inventor, Fusion or Solidworks experience. Inventor/Fusion preferred.
  • Sheetmetal and machined part design experience a plus
  • Familiarity with construction techniques a plus
  • Thermoform experience a plus
