Job Duties and Qualifications

Under general supervision, applies basic design logic to perform engineering changes and to construct assembly drawings for complex equipment

Works with given specifications, requirements, or instructions

Expert in proper part modeling techniques

Creates product structures in PDM systems

Prepares complex design layouts and/or schematics based on rough sketches or instructions from engineering personnel

Responsible for drafting quality in design documentation

Checks drawings of other design personnel for completeness and accuracy as required. Aware of tolerance requirements for proper function of equipment

Performs tolerance studies on tools for proper function of equipment

Utilizes and exchanges expertise of the materials and methods

Applies expertise of manufacturing, production processes, operations, and maintenance practices to designs. Incorporates reliability, HSE and Quality analysis techniques during the design process

Job tasks impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations

Drafting and Design Software Skills:

SolidWorks

AutoCAD

CWI

SolidWorks PDM

Education Requirement:

Skills typically acquired through the completion of an associate's degree in drafting or similar discipline and 5 years of related experience or through 7 years of related drafting experience

Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level a variety of job opportunities might be available from Mechanical Designer, Senior Mechanical Designer up to the Principal Mechanical Designer
