Maritime Coverage/Defense Attorney

Kennedys, a Legal 500 and Chambers-ranked global firm serving insurers and the London market, is seeking a Mid-level Associate with solid marine coverage and marine litigation experience to join its New York office. This is an excellent opportunity for ambitious lawyers to join a growing, competitive law firm with a diversified global practice.

Candidates should have a strong litigation background and familiarity with marine insurance coverage issues.

The annualized salary range for this role is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.

Required experience

• 2-5 years' litigation experience, preferably involving maritime disputes, or alternatively, an attorney with a marine background or education
• Experience analyzing marine insurance policies and other relevant contracts
• Ability to interact with clients, draft pleadings and discovery demands, conduct depositions, perform legal research and draft dispositive motions
• Proven and solid courtroom experience, conferences and handling appeals
• Excellent research, writing and communication skills
• Substantive familiarity with the rules and procedures of the New York Courts is a must
• Must be licensed to practice in New York
• Licensed to practice in New Jersey a plus

Attorney compensation ranges from $125,000 to $220,000 annually. Salary is contingent upon level of experience, practice group, location and other job-related factors permitted by law.
