Job Description


We are looking for a skilled Manual Milling Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating manual Bridgeport milling machines, with a solid understanding of manual setup, tool maintenance, and precision machining. Additionally, the candidate should have welding experience to assist with fabrication and assembly as needed. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, precision parts.

Key Responsibilities:

Setup and Operation:

  • Set up and operate manual Bridgeport milling machines to perform machining operations.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and attachments for each job.

Machining:

  • Perform manual milling operations to produce high-precision parts and components.
  • Adjust machine settings (speed, feed, depth) based on material types and job specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance to ensure production quality and minimize downtime.

Tool Maintenance:

  • Sharpen and maintain cutting tools to ensure optimal performance and tool life.
  • Regularly inspect tooling and machinery for wear, replacing tools as necessary to maintain production standards.

Welding Support:

  • Assist with welding tasks as needed, using MIG, TIG, or stick welding techniques to support the fabrication of parts and assemblies.
  • Ensure proper preparation, fit-up, and finishing of welded components.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment when operating welding equipment.

Quality Control:

  • Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to inspect finished parts and ensure they meet specifications.
  • Document measurements and production processes to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining or welding errors, ensuring high-quality production.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with team members to meet production schedules and project requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues regarding project updates, issues, or improvements.
  • Maintain a focus on safety in all machining and welding tasks.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining or welding is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a manual machinist with expertise in Bridgeport milling machines.
  • Welding experience (MIG, TIG, Stick) is highly desirable, with the ability to assist in welding tasks as required.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in manual milling techniques, including machine setup, tool sharpening, and material-specific cutting parameters.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
  • Experience with welding techniques, including material preparation, welding, and post-weld finishing.
