Maintenance Technician

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Hours 10:39am - 7:00pm
• Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming (using a 20 lb. vacuum daily for 3-4 hours), wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying the trash (lifting waste paper and debris - minimum of 55 lbs.), dusting, cleaning whiteboards, and disinfecting drinking fountains.
• Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.

• Perform ongoing tasks such as replacing light bulbs (climb ladders up to a height of 16 feet), filling dispensers, and setting up facilities for student and adult-use (lifting furniture, boxes, and cafeteria tables-minimum of 55 lbs.).

• Must be able to go up and downstairs and undertake bending and standing as needed in a daily shift.

• Promptly report major repairs as needed to the Head Custodian.
• Painting, repair work, set up and break down for events.
• Repair bathroom fixtures and troubleshoot electric issues
• Basic knowledge in areas such as concrete work, lawn care, and snow removal
• Able to troubleshoot broken items and develop plan for repair
• Able to manage outside vendors for service work on appliances, hvac units, etc.
• Complete ongoing preventative maintenance work such as cleaning grease traps, condenser coils, replacing filters, etc.
• Assist our school security staff with coverage, arrival, and dismissal procedures.

• Maintain the appearance of hallways throughout the building by washing and buffing floors.
• Basic computer literacy. Able to send/receive emails and use ticket system for work orders.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D.
• Able to pass DOE criminal background check

• Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally
• Has a teamwork and growth mindset
• Work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and experience in building management or construction

The following are a plus but not a requirement:

• Ability to work occasional weekends
• Experience working in school settings
