The Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the machine shop, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality parts and components. This role involves managing a team of machinist and machine shop assistants, coordinating workflow, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety and compliance. The supervisor plays a critical role in optimizing productivity, controlling costs, and maintaining a safe working environment.

Requirements

Proven experience in a machine shop environment, with supervisory or leadership roles.

Prefer to have 5+ years in a supervisory role

Duties include but are not limited to

Assign daily activities to Machine Shop personnel

Assist with part setup planning

Monitor daily activity to ensure machines remain active and workflow continues throughout the Machine Shop

Mentor Machinists and Machine Shop Assistants

Work with Manufacturing Engineering to improve machining plans and machine programs

Work with Quality Control to ensure coordination of in-process inspections

Work with Maintenance to ensure both preventive maintenance and as needed maintenance is performed as required

Ideal candidates would have the following qualifications:

Be able to read blueprints

GD&T

Have a mathematical aptitude

Working knowledge of FANUC controls

Working knowledge of horizontal boring mills

Machine Programming (G-Code & MasterCAM)

Excellent communication skills

Large part setup

Microsoft programs

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
  • PPE is required at all times in the plant.
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
