Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities consist of visitor relations and conducting counter sales of tickets, memberships, food, and ski rentals. Visitor relations include, but are not limited to: greeting visitors, answering visitor questions concerning the property and the ski program, promoting the mission of The Trustees of Reservations, ticket and membership sales and record keeping. Additional responsibilities include, maintaining the caf? area, lighting and managing fires in the wood stoves, sales of candy and ski wax, etc., snowshoe rentals, and updating the snow report daily. The ranger is also expected to protect visitor safety by explaining and enforcing rules and regulations and assist with emergencies.
Requirements
Skills & Abilities
Good natured, outgoing, excellent work ethic, safety conscious, patient, trustworthy, must be able to use tact in diffusing confrontations with uncooperative visitors. Candidates should be able to manage a computer sales program (we will train) and reconcile daily accounts in a fast-paced atmosphere. Applicants must have their own vehicle to get to Notchview for work. Experience in cross-country skiing is very desirable.
Qualifications & Work Experience
History of success in position that requires interacting with many people, current CPR and basic first aid desirable, an interest or experience in cross-country is desirable but not required.
Work period
Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Monday holidays, when the snow is on the ground December into April. Schedule is somewhat flexible. Hours less than 40/week are certainly available. Note: If we have no snow then work will be limited. You should apply for the experience and enjoyment rather than to depend on the money.
