This is a Legal Counsel role is a legal partner role to supporting our Reinsurance Solutions business unit, with a sharp focus on advising on the development contractual and sale of legal frameworks behind our risk knowledge tech platforms/tools intelligence platforms and other fee-based service offerings, including digital services. You'll advise on the development, commercialization, and regulatory positioning of our flagship SaaS offerings?such as Risk Data & Services (RDS), CatNet CatNet, and Magnum solutions and other Magnum?as well as bespoke consulting services.engagements.
What are the key responsibilities?
Key Responsibilities include:- Review, draft
- Contract Leadership: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, in particular SaaS agreements and similar IT platform/tool terms a wide range of access, and related commercial agreements
- Analyze agreements, with a strong emphasis on SaaS contracts and advise platform access terms.
- Tech Counsel: Provide legal guidance on the development and deployment of tech platforms in the re/insurance space.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales, product owners, engineers, risk management and compliance teams across global markets to enable scalable, sustainable growth.
- Governance & Risk: Develop internal policies and frameworks to uphold legal integrity and operational efficiency.
- External Counsel Management: Engage and oversee outside legal advisors as needed.
- Knowledge Sharing: Monitor legal and regulatory matters as they apply to the development and offering of tech platforms/tools and fee-based service offerings, including in the re/insurance regulatory space
- Work closely with a diverse and international group of product owners, sales teams and other cross-functional colleagues; build and maintain collaborative working relationships with our customers
- Help trends, develop policies and processes to promote efficient management of high legal templates and ethical standards
- Instruct knowhow, scalable best practices, and manage outside counsel (as needed)
- Monitor legal and regulatory trends affecting relevant business areas and conduct and/or arrange deliver internal presentations and trainings training on legal topics emerging issues in tech solutions.

Additional requirements include:
thrive in fast-paced, cross-border environments. You bring:- Fully qualified US lawyer (bar exam/practicing certificate)
- A U.S. law degree and bar admission, with a minimum of at least 5 years post qualification experience, preferably with a law firm or of post-qualification experience (ideally in-house in the (re)insurance or at a firm with tech industry
- Successful track record or re/insurance clients)
- Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating Saas platform agreements or SaaS and commercial agreements generally
- Experience advising on insurance regulation applicable tech contracts
- Familiarity with U.S. re/insurance regulatory frameworks or an interest to selling insurance develop this experience in the US
- Ability to negotiate house
- Excellent communication and work professionally in English; additional languages are a plus influencing skills
- A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with high integrity and sound judgment

The estimated base salary range for this position is $156,000 to $240,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
