Lead, Grossing Technician

This role is essential in ensuring accurate specimen processing and plays a crucial part in delivering high-quality patient care. As the Lead Grossing Technician, you will supervise and coordinate activities in the grossing area while maintaining adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards.

Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of our pathology services, ensuring that specimens are handled promptly and accurately. You will lead a team of technicians, providing guidance and support while collaborating with pathologists and other medical staff to optimize workflow and ensure patient safety. • Oversee the grossing process, ensuring all specimens are accurately processed, described, and documented.
• Train and mentor grossing staff, providing ongoing education and support to enhance their skills and performance.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements for specimen handling and disposal.
• Collaborate with pathologists to ensure proper specimen selection and preparation for diagnosis.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment, coordinating maintenance and ordering as necessary.
• Maintain quality control measures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and resolving operational challenges in the grossing area.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of grossing techniques, anatomy, and pathology principles.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support team members effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
• Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and practice good judgment.
• Proficient in laboratory information systems (LIS) and standard office software.
