Junior Tax Associate

Handler Law, LLP is seeking a highly motivated to hire an experienced Junior Tax Associate Attorney with 3+ to join our team. This individual will play a key role in managing client relationships within a private client law environment. Candidates should possess superior communication, drafting, writing and research skills and excellent analytical and critical-thinking skills. The Junior Tax Associate candidate should have at least three (3) years of public account or legal tax experience.

Position Overview:

The Junior Tax Associate will support the firm?s tax practice by assisting in the research, preparation, and execution of complex tax strategies and compliance matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or early-career tax attorney to gain hands-on experience working alongside seasoned professionals in public accounting or law firms. a collegial, mentorship-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include

• Conduct legal research on federal, state, and international tax compliance, controversy issues
• Draft memoranda, legal opinions, and planning, drafting, implementing estate plans, and administering estate strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong fundamental skills in the taxation area relevant to all private clients. Candidates should possess strong communication, drafting, writing, research, and analytical and critical-thinking skills.

Requirements and Qualifications:

JD; candidates client correspondence

Requirements:

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Illinois.
• LL.M., in Taxation, CPA, CFP, CPA, MBA, MST), Law Review, CPA or Business Law Journal other relevant designations preferred.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in income tax law, income tax compliance, estate planning, and/or tax controversy.
• Strong drafting, analytical, and client-facing skills.
• Experience advising or working within a family office, private client law firm, or wealth management context preferred.
