What Your Job Will Be Like:

We are seeking a Coop - Technical Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team! We are a team that provides equipment, facilities, and maintenance support to Center 7500. We manage programmatic assets and process infrastructure equipment for the Component Science, Engineer and Production organization, Center 7500. The team provides services including identifying equipment needs, developing specifications, performing factory acceptance tests, installing, and characterizing equipment. We also provide retirement services for equipment, ensuring it is decommissioned properly.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Write or edit supporting documentation.
  • Learn and operate asset management software.
  • Develop specifications based on process requirements and user wants and needs.
  • Work with the ELM/C&M leads to assist in maintaining, calibrating, purchasing, installing, or uninstalling equipment.
  • Operate and evaluate a wide range of equipment to support analytics, development, and production. Tools range from table-top microscopes to industrial scale equipment.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range:

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require:

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

  • Undergraduate student at an accredited university
  • Enrolled full time in the term immediately preceding the internship
  • Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
  • Registration with the university's co-op office
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Pursuing a degree in mechatronics, mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Ability to work productively in a teaming situation.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications.
