Job Description


Armstrong Teasdale is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Associate with an advanced degree in software, computer science, electrical or mechanical to join its Intellectual Property Group in our New York, Philadelphia, Kansas City, or St. Louis office. Our patent attorneys assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and clearance opinions, patent estate management, licensing and enforcement of patent for a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will possess patent preparation and prosecution experience in the software, computer science, electrical or mechanical areas. Associates have an exciting opportunity to learn from and work closely with energetic, high experienced patent practitioners in a friendly, cooperative environment.

  • Simultaneously handles the high-level and strategic aspects of multiple legal matters at different stages of progression, from inception to conclusion

Required Education: Juris Doctor

Preferred Education: Bachelors or higher in Electrical, Computer or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science

Required Licenses and/or Certifications: Licensed to practice law in good standing in one or more jurisdictions where the Firm conducts business; must maintain applicable license renewal and CLE requirements; registered to practice before the USPTO.

Required Experience: 4+ years' experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm. Experience the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and international patent applications in a wide range of technical disciplines, including mechanical, electrical and medical devices. Patent attorneys assist with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, patentability and clearance opinions, patent estate management, licensing and enforcement of patent for a diverse clientele.

Supervisory Responsibilities:Indirect - actively utilizes support staff or junior associates to ensure client satisfaction

Physical Activity:The employee will be required to sit (or utilize a standing desk) for prolonged periods and work on a computer

Travel Required: Less than 10%
