The Mental Health Association is seeking an entry-level Human Resources Generalist to join our HR team. The HR Generalist is responsible for administering various HR plans and programs for all MHA, Inc. employees and will work with all aspects of the HR functions. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing employee benefits, working with various HR platforms, handling employee verifications, assisting with background and CORI checks, when necessary, and attending and presenting (alongside other HR staff) in new hire orientations. The right fit for this position will thrive in a busy environment, where maintaining a workflow upon regular interruptions and multitasking are a must!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining personnel files.
  • Remains current on local and state requirements related to employment regulations and law.
  • Manages and assists employees with benefits
  • Attends administrative and staff meetings to communicate HR initiatives and address current agendas.
  • Assists with unemployment responses and attends hearings when needed.
  • Presents information to new hires during orientation alongside other HR department staff.

Benefits

Has thorough understanding of MHA's benefit package and effectively explains benefits to employees as needed.

Assists employees with general benefit information and questions.

Assists HR Generalists, HR Director, and Vice President with Open Enrollment.

Other Responsibilities

Carries out special assignments as requested by HR Director or other senior managers.

Assists with internal investigations & collecting statements

Participates in strategic department and agency planning.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience in the working in the Human Resource field preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Digital literacy: Outlook, Applicant Tracking System, HRIS system, MS Word & Excel, online recruiting.

Adheres to the mission, vision and values of MHA and conducts himself/herself within standards of professional conduct of his/her program, division and the organization. Adheres to MHA's Policy & Procedure and protect the privacy and security of consumer health information.
