Gourmet/Deli Team Member

Gary's Wine & Marketplace, owned and operated locally, is one of the largest brick-and-mortar and internet wine retailers in the tri-state area. Our stores offer one of the most extensive, competitively priced fine wine, spirits, craft beers, gourmet items, and gift selections. We are well-known for our excellent, personable customer service and our knowledgeable wine staff.

In this position, you will develop expert knowledge of cheeses and gourmet items and promote and sell these products. You will oversee the operations of this section through the following: daily ordering needs, departmental cleanliness and organization, proper rotation and management of spoilage as well as maintaining a well-presented stocked and signed pantry section. You will mentor team members on all aspects of the above to strengthen the department and build sales.

You will ensure compliance with the Department of Health standards and state standards for weight and measures. You will properly use slicers in compliance with the health code and not cross-contaminate meats with produce or cheese. All surfaces need to be cleaned and always sanitized.

You will be reliable and be on time and ready to work when scheduled with limited scheduling issues or conflicts. Your shifts will range from opening to closing, weekdays to weekends, and holidays. Gary's is only closed on Christmas Day.

Key Points of the Job:

• Using a thorough knowledge of our gourmet items, assist guests in their selection and pairing of cheeses with wine, beer, and spirits
• Assist guests with the selection of gourmet items for gift baskets
• Keep abreast of knowledge and trends in gourmet items
• Ensuring rotation of gourmet stock and removing expires items from shelves and displays

Requirements

• A strong sense of customer service
• Ability to lift 40 lbs.
• Basic computer skills
• Must be 18 years of age
