Full Stack Software Engineer

Position is remote or based in our Carlsbad, CA office.

Hydrosat is a venture-backed space data analytics company developing a new earth observation constellation and software to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery. Our mission is to capture and deliver thermal infrared data, currently not available from other sources, to provide insights into crop health, drought and wildfire risk, industrial activity, and situational awareness to government and commercial customers.

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to support the development of software systems for Hydrosat's earth observation satellite constellation. The team is responsible for building the software and services to produce data products from our novel earth observation system and deliver them to customers. This role will appeal to candidates looking to use their engineering skills to impact the world in agriculture, climate, and public safety monitoring applications. The right candidate will be endlessly fascinated by technologies in web technologies, photography, science, and space.

What you'll do:

• Support the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of customer-facing web services and web applications for enabling discoverability and delivery of earth observation data
• Work with a team of software engineers and scientists producing scientific data products from raw, low-level data from satellites
• Collaborate with product management to ensure systems meet customer needs
• Design systems with an eye for long-term scalability
• Ensure customer security requirements are adhered to

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience with serverless web applications in NodeJS
• Experience with modern web development frameworks (React.js, Angular, Vue.js.)
• Experience withNoSQLdatabases such as ElasticSearch or Amazon OpenSearch
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Experience building and maintaining scalable, modern systems in AWS, Google Cloud or Azure
• Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver capabilities to users

Nice-to-Haves:

• Experience working with SpatioTemporal Asset Catalogs (STAC)
• Experience with modern python
• Experience with geospatial or imagery data
• A passion for earth observation and its applications
