Job Description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Finance Associate with four to six years of experience to join the finance practice of a prestigious Am Law 100 firm in New York. This position offers a unique blend of complex finance transactions and exposure to special situations and restructuring matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Work on a broad array of complex debt financing transactions, including:

Acquisition financing, particularly for sponsor-backed companies in the middle market
Term loan facilities and working capital facilities
Commitment letters, sponsor grids, unitranche facilities, and intercreditor arrangements

Represent private credit and opportunistic debt funds, ad hoc lender groups, investment and commercial banks, corporate borrowers, and private equity sponsors
Collaborate within the financial restructuring practice to manage existing capital structures, new loan originations, and special situations, workout, and in/out-of-court restructuring transactions

Key Qualifications:

Solid base of experience in leveraged finance, with exposure to a variety of debt financing transactions
Intellectual curiosity and an interest in expanding expertise to include distressed credit and restructuring matters
Law firm experience is required, with outstanding academic credentials
Admission to the New York State Bar

Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $310,000 to $390,000 annually, with actual compensation determined based on experience and other relevant factors.
