Financial Controller

Lawyer.com is looking for a controller with potential to grow into a senior management role.

Lawyer.com, Inc. is a leading online service provider to lawyers and consumers. We manage a leading directory of 2 million lawyers and offer a suite of services to help thousands of law firms build better businesses. Each week we provide thousands of consumers the best free lawyer matching service in the U.S. We are a tech first leader with multiple generative AI services and connect with hundreds of thousands of lawyers and consumers each month using custom email, phone, text, chat and video technology. Our intuitive brand 'Lawyer.com' is rapidly gaining recognition among lawyers and consumers and we are well positioned in the $200 Billion U.S. legal services market. We are recruiting key execs including the Controller to accelerate our profitable growth. .

Controller will:

• report to the CEO.
• produce monthly financial statements using Quickbooks Online and Stripe Revenue reporting
• generate payroll, commission and bonus payments via Insperity
• recruit junior accounting and bookkeeping team as company grows
• prepare projections and participate in management strategy discussions
• assist in negotiating third party contracts, technology purchases and other big ticket items.
• work with department managers to develop accurate product reports, R&D target returns.
• work with tech, product, sales, operation and management to improve margins

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Rigorous accounting qualifications and 2 years relevant experience.
• Highly analytical, able to extract actionable insights from diverse information sources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Passion for learning and mastering new skills
• A strong sense of ownership and personal accountability
• Enjoy fast moving start up environment
• Team player interested in supporting junior employees and other departments.
• Interest in business strategy and product management
• Short commute to Basking Ridge, NJ headquarters.
• U.S. citizen or work permit

Optional Requirements:

• Knowledge of the legal services market
• Experience in a technology start-up
• Experience with business development, product development and marketing
• Experience with recurring revenue/SaaS based businesses, deferred revenue and payment collections
• Familiarity with SEO, SEM and other online marketing techniques.
