Job Description
Responsibilities:
The Senior Finance Officer has overall responsibility for supporting the finance functions for various food ration projects and the procurement teams. The Senior Finance Officer's responsibilities include supplier management, cash management reporting, financial analysis, finance information management and reporting, reconciliation, and verification of payment, working closely with GFAC teams (shared service center), project finance teams, group treasury, procurement, and operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supplier management for assigned projects that include planning payments basis funds availability in coordination with PLD, mission, etc., timely payments processing, getting disconnects resolved promptly, timely responding to supplier communications.
- Effective cash flow management through timely cash flow forecast (3-month period), updating the forecast with fortnightly payments, and maintaining bank transfer communications.
- Provide excellent mission/ project Finance support through regular visits to large missions/ projects in Africa, ensuring they are updated and aligned on the company's financial controls and reporting requirements.
- Conduct financial analysis on information requirements for assigned projects/ missions, which includes but is not limited to: variance analysis, trends identification, actuals comparisons to bid / forecast / plan etc.
- Support with the quarterly business review (QBR) preparation and review, and planning.
- Support with the monthly reporting (MOR) preparation and review.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with GFAC, mission finance, group treasury, PLD and operations with related matters.
- Supporting Finance Manager with AR/Billing Analysis, APL Reviews, Cost Analysis, Redundancy Planning and other information/ reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, degree in commerce or science is preferred
- Professional certification, qualified CIMA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or a related field
- Experience in food rations or military support project work is preferred
- Takes complete ownership of assigned work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and delivery of results-focused
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop team members
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present financial reports clearly and concisely
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
