Family Law Associate

Lerch, Early & Brewer seeks a family law attorney with 3-6 years of experience to join our firm. This person is expected to handle cases with a high level of independence, as well as co-counsel cases with senior attorneys; manage day-to-day tasks, develop case information, evidence, and settlement options; handle motions and other hearings independently; manage trial preparation; and work with paralegals/legal assistants. Excellent writing and analytical skills and strong academic credentials are required. Maryland and DC Bar required. Primary Responsibilities: Primary Responsibilities Executes case strategy independently and/or with senior attorneys, paralegals, clients and support staff. Manages high level/high asset cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; corresponds with opposing counsel. Proactively keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; communicating case progress. Supports case planning; prepares materials for mediation; prepares pleadings; research and analysis of legal issues. Manages the discovery process, including review and analysis of discovery responses, preparation of requests, responses, pleadings, and correspondence related to discovery. Prepares for depositions. Is involved with trials and other court proceedings, working with support staff in organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, scheduling witnesses, and ensuring that witnesses are available and prepared when needed. Attends business development and networking functions. Works productively and collaboratively in a team environment.
