Job Description

Role Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive project plans, cost analyses, and capital submissions for both capital and general plant projects.
Analyze and enhance manufacturing processes to reduce costs and modernize production systems.
Lead technical projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, trials, acceptance testing (FAT & PAT), and qualificationcoordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
Support the troubleshooting and maintenance of automated machinery, including electrical and mechanical systems, PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, and vision systems.
Apply expertise in high-speed, high-volume manufacturing to integrate automation, robotics, AGVs, and data systems to improve cost-efficiency and reliability.
Require a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in robotics/automation and AGV systems in high-speed production, including programming and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in Rockwell Automation PLC/HMI programming and AutoCAD for layouts and electrical documentation.
Manage project budgets and expenses through Sonoco's purchasing system, ensuring projects stay within financial parameters.
Contribute to engineering meetings, evaluating equipment design, tooling, and methodologies.
Execute projects from planning to completion as assigned.

Location & Travel:
This role is based in Jackson, TN or another major facility. Travel may be extensive (up to 5070%) depending on project assignments.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree, ideally with an emphasis in Engineering

Proven project management experience with successful execution of technical initiatives

Over 5 years of relevant experience in design, automation, and systems integration, including hands-on expertise in PLC controls, servo motor drive systems, vision systems, AC/DC drives, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other complex electromechanical equipment
