Williams Mullen is seeking a senior-level associate or junior partner with a minimum of 7 years of experience in corporate and transactional matters to join our growing, entrepreneurial Energy team. This role offers a unique opportunity for a forward-thinking attorney looking to accelerate their career through direct client engagement, business development, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll work on fast-paced transactions throughout the U.S., alongside industry-leading partners on both traditional and renewable energy projects.
The ideal candidate will:
Lead and support transactions in the energy sector, from initial structuring through closing, with a focus on both traditional and renewable energy projects.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and outside counsel to drive deals forward and ensure successful outcomes.
Conduct and oversee due diligence, and draft, review and negotiate complex transaction documents, including purchase agreements and related contracts.
Provide legal opinions and strategic counsel on matters involving M&A and other energy transactions.

Must have at least 7 years of experience with corporate transactions and mergers and acquisitions (with energy transactional matters preferred), including: project development, project acquisitions/divestitures, project financings, negotiating and drafting agreements.
Experience with energy regulatory issues, including cases before state energy regulatory/public utilities? commissions, is a plus.
A successful candidate will possess the ambition to excel and enjoy working in a small-office environment with the benefits of large-firm resources and cross-office engagement. We offer the ability to own a project from beginning to end while also getting to work on multiple other projects.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being able to assume individual responsibility for client matters. Also have the drive and energy to take initiative to advance projects, solve problems and pay attention to details.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
Must be currently licensed in Virginia, immediate waive into Virginia, or be a member of the bar in one or more US Jurisdictions and willing to sit for the Virginia bar.
