Position Overview
The electrician specializes in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in buildings and structures. They are responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment to provide electricity for various purposes.
As an Electrician you will:
- Execute electrical wiring plans for well-functioning lighting, intercom, and other electrical systems.
- Install electrical apparatus, fixtures, and equipment for alarm and other systems.
- Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, etc.)
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring compatibility of components.
- Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them.
- Prevent system breakdown by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Prior experience as an electrician required; technical college degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repairs
- Industrial and/or commercial electrical experience preferred
Licenses & Certifications
- Completed electrician apprenticeship
- Valid driver's license
Skills & Abilities
- Proficient with electrical and hand tools (e.g., wire strippers, voltmeter)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings
- In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and electrical codes
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Work may take place indoors or outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or extreme temperatures
- Physical demands include climbing, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs or more), and manual dexterity
- May require evening, weekend, or on-call shifts; travel up to 2550%
Tools & Equipment
- May include hand tools, power tools, computers, and standard office equipment depending on role
Performance Review
- Initial evaluation after 90 days
- Annual performance review thereafter
