At C the Signs , we are transforming early cancer detection through our AI-driven platform, identifying patients at risk of cancer at its earliest and most treatable stages. Our platform has conducted over 400,000 cancer risk assessments , diagnosing over 30,000 cancers across 50 tumour types , with a 94% accuracy in predicting tumour origin . We sit at the intersection of AI's most advanced technologies and global healthcare challenges , pioneering a future where machine learning, predictive analytics, and large-scale data integration redefine how we detect, predict, and combat disease.

We are seeking a visionary and deeply technical leader who understands AI's potential and limitations in a healthcare context. This role demands someone who can transform immense, diverse datasets into clinical breakthroughs, ensuring ethical deployment and advancing AI architecture at scale. You will work closely with the CEO, Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) , and CTO , aligning AI strategy with scientific discovery, business goals, and seamless technological integration. Together, we will push the boundaries of what AI can achieve in saving lives globally.


Key Responsibilities
:

The scope of responsibility is divided into two areas:

AI Models Development

  • Strategic Leadership : Own and execute the AI strategy, from vision to technical implementation, powering early cancer detection and prediction.
  • Cutting-Edge AI Development : Train, fine-tune, and scale AI models using multi-modal datasets (e.g., structured/unstructured healthcare data, longitudinal records, genomics, patient-reported outcomes, documents, images). Evaluate the performance of the models and working closely with product engineering to integrate the models into product suite
  • Real-World Applications : Design models for predictive analytics, early disease detection, and patient risk stratification that deliver measurable clinical impact.
  • Ethical and Scalable AI : Ensure all AI systems adhere to strict ethical guidelines , mitigating algorithmic bias and ensuring fairness, interpretability, and robustness in real-world healthcare contexts.
  • Collaborative Innovation : Work with the CEO, CSO, and CTO to align AI development with scientific advancements and business goals , ensuring AI seamlessly integrates into the broader product vision.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure models comply with regulatory and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, SOC2), safeguarding data privacy and governance.
  • Team Leadership : Build and mentor an elite AI team and data engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and impact.
  • Research Excellence : Spearhead research and publication efforts, solidifying C the Signs as a global leader in healthcare AI.

Data Engineering

  • Strategic leadership in data infrastructure and engineering. Data is like oil to the engine, without it the engine cannot run. Create and implement overall data strategy and governance structure that support BOTH the AI model development (training, etc.) and products/platform development.
  • Product development data engineering support. provide leadership to the data engineering team, ensure adequate support to the product engineering team ranging from customer data acquisition, data ingestion pipeline, data ETL process, and robust data model definition in the data warehouse
  • Data Analytics. Provide leadership to the data analytics function. Create and define enterprise strategy in data analysis, implement analytics covering business and operation performance analytics, as well as customer analytics

Requirements

Technical Expertise :

  • Deep expertise and experience in AI (Generative AI included) model development, training and fine-tuning using machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and advanced prediction/classification algorithms.
  • Proven success in applying AI to structured data (e.g., EHRs, demographics, clinical) and unstructured data (e.g., clinical notes, image, etc.).
  • Mastery of state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms, including reinforcement learning and supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Deep skill and experience in setting up MLOps, including tool set, process and technical implementation of MLOp infrastructure to support AI model development in the cloud (GCP, AWS)
  • Extensive experience in AI model performance evaluation
  • Expert level knowledge and experience in model sizing and cost optimization both at hardware and software level
  • Extensive experience working with product engineering team in integrating AI models into products
  • Experience with data engineering concept and disciplines. Familiar or experienced with data integration and data ingestion pipeline development
  • Experience with setting up data governance structure (process, tools, security, etc.)

Healthcare Experience :

  • Significant experience working with patient health information, with a deep commitment to ethical AI and mitigating bias.
  • Familiarity with healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, and terminologies like SNOMED CT or ICD codes is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data integration, such as electronic health records (EHRs), genomics, and patient-reported outcomes, even without technical expertise in standards like HL7 or FHIR.

Scalable AI Infrastructure :

  • Experience architecting scalable systems capable of handling petabytes of data, high-performance model training, and real-time inferencing in production environments.

Tools and Frameworks :

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of scalable architectures for deploying AI systems in production environments.

Real-World AI Applications :

  • Demonstrated success in building AI systems integrated into live environments, such as clinical decision support, early disease detection tools, or resource optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of addressing domain-specific challenges in healthcare or similar high-impact fields.

Leadership and Impact :

  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to build and mentor world-class AI teams.
  • Strong collaborative skills, working across disciplines to align AI development with clinical, scientific, and business goals.

Education and Experience :

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Data Sciences, Machine Learning, Computer Science, or related field, with substantial post-graduate experience in healthcare or similarly complex domains.

Collaborative Mindset :

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams, collaborating with clinicians, engineers, and researchers to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
