Job Description


Directly reporting to General Manager. Communicate well with scheduling, vendors, production, Engineering and all other plant personnel. Responsible for correction and maintenance of extrusion dies to achieve maximum yield/output/quality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • 3-5 years' of extrusion experience, die correction experience an asset

Technical Skills/Competence

  • Attention to detail with excellent record keeping
  • Confident in his or her work and the ability to complete tasks with minimum supervision on time
  • Must be able to interpret drawings (Imperial & Metric) and be familiar with precision measuring instruments
  • Correctly use hand tools related to the position (i.e., precision filing/pencil grinders, callipers, drill press)
  • Understand metal flow/friction in dies and have the ability to formulate well thought out correction plans using sound methods
  • Candidate must be willing and able to work with caustics and comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Epics and outlook knowledge preferred

Requirements

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The duties and responsibilities of the Die Corrector are detailed below, but not limited to the following:
  • In-coming die inspection/receiving.
  • Correct/repair dies in order of importance on priority board.
  • Use Epics software and Outlook email effectively.
  • Record/provide feed-back to die makers on die performance.
  • Manufacture and inventory graphite blocks for dies requiring them.
  • Die Corrector should be present for specific (complex) test runs or reruns of corrected dies to verify his or her work.
  • Communicate with scheduling in a timely manner when pulled dies are ready for production once more. Provide any special instructions required for next runs.
  • Help/assist caustic attendant with priority die requirements.
  • Comply with all quality, safety and company policies.
  • Participate in the improvement of everyday operations.
  • Help manage the main tooling inventory.
  • Maintain housekeeping/organization in shop.
