Cyber/Data/Privacy Attorney

Cooley?s The Cyber/Data/Privacy (c/d/p) practice group is seeking a midlevel an associate who focuses on litigation and/or regulatory enforcement investigations involving privacy and data security matters to join the team in our New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Francisco or Washington, DC offices. Cooley?s diverse c/d/p group Cooley has over 30 full-time attorneys focusing on these issues full time in the US, UK, Europe, and Asia. The firm continues to expand its award-winning c/d/p litigation Asia and investigations is continuing the expansion of the US practice. Cooley?s c/d/p practice works with a broad variety of emerging companies, public companies, leading technology companies, financial institutions, life sciences companies, national media companies, etc. The group?s work includes a counseling and advisory component, as well as work on privacy and cybersecurity aspects of corporate and technology transactions, incident preparedness and response, state and federal investigations, and/or litigation. Ideal applicants for this role will have 4-6 four to seven years of experience focusing advising clients on regulatory investigations cyber/data/privacy compliance issues, in either a private law firm or litigation involving consumer protection issues (State AG, FTC, in-house position, including CCPA, CPRA, GDPR and other regulatory agencies), and/or be well-versed in defending data privacy and law compliance, information security class actions (e.g., Stored Communications Act, wiretapping claims, claims involving allegedly unfair and deceptive trade practices, privacy due diligence for corporate transactions, data processing agreements and privacy schedules in commercial transactions, and data breach class actions). response and incident response planning. Successful candidates will have a high level of academic achievement from a nationally recognized law school, the ability to engage directly with clients and lead significant projects, general tech fluency, and impeccable very strong analytical and writing skills. EOE. The expected annual pay range for this position is $310,000 - $390,000.$310,000-$420,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
