Cook

We are looking for a full-time, skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals according to menu. This position is responsible for accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, soups and other hot food products as well as prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, saut?ing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.Must be knowledgeable of and consistently compliant with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, recipes, policies and procedures. You must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.

Essential Duties:

• Maintains a clean and sanitarywork station area.
• Handles, stores, labels, androtates all products properly and in accordance to applicable state laws.
• Assists the Dietary Manager withkitchen duties as assigned.
• Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry,vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills,fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
• Promptly reports equipment and food quality issues tothe Dietary Manager.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by theDietary Manager.
• Must be able to work weekends as assigned.
• Must be able to adjust recipes to achieve desiredresults. Must be able to read and comprehend recipes or instructions onprepackaged products. Ability to read, convert and adjust mathematicalmeasurements for recipe adjustments.
• Must be able to use kitchen equipment such as knives,slicers, mixers and dishwashers; knowledge of the hygiene factors involvedin food preparation; knowledge of cleaning products and the appropriatemethods of cleaning a variety of surfaces.
• Must be able to work independently, in a resultrestricted physical environment for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work weekends as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High School degree or equivalent preferred or two (2) years' work experience required.
• Required Licenses: Valid Food Handlers Certificate or must obtain within 30 days of accepting the position.

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as a cook in a commercial environment, preferably in a healthcare setting
• Additional Requirements Must be available for weekend, day, and night shifts as assigned. Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Screening: Must successfully pass background check, drug screen, physical and be able to provide positive employment references.
• Physical Demands: With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained period of time, walk, pull, lift, raise and move objects from position to position (up to 50 lbs), finger grasp; feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially loudly, accurately, or quickly; visually detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, assess; perceive the nature of sound with or without correction; perform repetitive motions of the wrist, hands, or fingers. Light work most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently; and occasionally medium work, that is exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
