Job Description
The Conflicts Attorney assists with the identification, review, analysis, and reconciliation of all conflicts of interest related to incoming legal personnel Firm-wide. The role likewise advises on the identification and reconciliation of potential and actual conflicts of interest related to new client and matter opening across Firm offices and jurisdictions. The Conflicts Attorney is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Firm conflict waivers and reviews client Outside Counsel Guidelines for Firm compliance. This position reports to the Director of Conflict Services, the Associate General Counsel and General Counsel. Assist in the identification, resolution, and clearance of potential and actual conflicts of interest as relate to lateral legal personnel new hires and Firm new business. Consult with the Director of Conflict Services and General Counsel?s Office as necessary to facilitate clearance and approval on all potential and actual conflicts of interest. Follow-up with appropriate lawyer(s) and/or Firm personnel as required to perform any and all above functions, including, but not limited to, obtaining conflicts clearances, waivers, Outside Counsel Guidelines and engagement letters. Generate and maintain conflicts waivers in furtherance of conflict resolution for use throughout all levels of the Firm. At least two (2) years of demonstrated legal conflicts of interest researching, identification and resolution experience in the Conflicts Department of a major law firm or financial institution required. Exceptional working knowledge of the Model Rules of Professional Conduct across Firm jurisdictions required. Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile potential and actual conflicts of interest in a major law firm required. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills required. This position may require periodic physical presence in Proskauer?s offices as business needs require. The anticipated compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
