Commercial Litigation Associate

Christian & Small is seeking an experienced Commercial General Litigation Associate with a minimum of three years of litigation experience for our Birmingham, Alabama office. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to join a fast-moving practice and hone their litigation skills while receiving training and mentorship from partners with extensive commercial litigation experience. Christian & Small has many long-term clients, and the firm is committed to developing young attorneys to serve those clients and lead the firm in the coming years. Job Responsibilities Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests. Confidently take and defend depositions. Effectively communicate with clients and managing attorney(s) to understand the client?s concerns. Represent clients in court, at mediations, and or settlement conferences. Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel or insurance companies. Analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and research case law, statutes, regulations, and documents impacting the firm?s clients. Communicate clearly and logically (orally and in writing) with regulatory agencies, courts, and counsel, client, and managing attorney(s). Organize and manage documents from multiple sources in the course of multidistrict and other complex litigation. Manage caseload effectively and efficiently. Try simple matters with little supervision. Job Requirements Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Minimum three years of litigation experience. Ability to work independently. Time management, organization, efficiency, and reliability are essential qualities required. In-person, full-time position in Birmingham, Alabama.
