Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical field and ensure that all instruments are properly sterilized.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs during surgery and report any abnormalities to the surgical team.
  • Assist in positioning patients on the operating table to optimize access for the surgeon.
  • Document all pertinent information on patient charts and surgical protocols as required.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other surgical team members to ensure smooth workflow in the operating room.
  • Participate in the post-operative care of patients and assist in transferring them to recovery.
  • Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain patient safety.

Requirements

  • Current certification as a Surgical Assistant from an accredited organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical assistant role.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and care.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
