We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a solid breadth of experience - to design and implement the web application layer around our core technology. You'll be part of a cross-functional team that's responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. We want team members with a sense of humor and a passion for making great software. You must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. If you're also familiar with Agile methodologies, we'd like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Work with development teams and product managers to ideate software solutions
- Design client/server architecture
- Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications
- Write effective APIs
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Perform code reviews
- Write technical documentation
- Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software
Requirements
- Strong Python skills and experience with multiple back-end languages (e.g. C++, Java, Node.js)
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, MongoDB)
- Familiarity with Linux, Kubernetes, Bash
- Familiarity with web servers (e.g. Apache, NGINX)
- Experience writing REST APIs
- Familiar with version control such as git, Azure DevOps is a plus
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Great attention to detail
- An analytical mind
- BS Degree in Computer Science
- Must be East Coast based, local candidates strongly preferred
