We are looking for a highly skilled Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Java and Equities Trading Systems to build and enhance high-performance, low-latency applications that power mission-critical trading platforms. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced financial technology environments and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges while working with large-scale, real-time distributed systems. As a Backend Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize backend services that support equity trading workflows, order management, market connectivity, and trade lifecycle processing. You will collaborate with product managers, traders, quantitative teams, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that meet the demanding requirements of modern financial markets. Requirements Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java for high-performance trading applications.
• Build scalable and low-latency components supporting Equities Trading Systems, including order management, execution, pricing, and trade processing.
• Develop reliable APIs and microservices for market data ingestion, order routing, and downstream integrations.
• Optimize application performance, memory usage, and concurrency to support high transaction volumes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including traders, product managers, business analysts, and QA engineers to deliver business-critical features.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in system architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and security across backend applications.
• Contribute to continuous integration, deployment automation, and operational excellence initiatives.

• 4?15 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java with deep understanding of object-oriented programming, multithreading, collections, concurrency, and JVM internals.
• Hands-on experience working with Equities Trading Systems, including order management, execution management, market data, or trade lifecycle platforms.
• Solid understanding of financial markets, equities products, exchange connectivity, and trading workflows.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems and RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, with excellent SQL skills.
• Experience with messaging technologies, asynchronous processing, and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with version control systems, build tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

• Experience working within Markets Technology teams supporting front-office trading platforms.
• Experience developing backend platforms used by institutional trading desks or capital markets applications.
• Knowledge of FIX protocol, market data feeds, and exchange connectivity.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, containerization, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with distributed caching, stream processing, and real-time messaging frameworks.
• Understanding of risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements in financial systems.
• Experience developing high-throughput, low-latency applications with performance optimization techniques.
