Location: In-person at our HQ in Brentwood, TN (Nashville area)

The Role:

We are growing two exciting experiential retail brands, The Escape Game and Great Big Game Show, which collectively operate 60+ locations today and are on pace to reach 100+ locations in the next few years. We are seeking a trusted in-house legal expert to join our team as we embark on this ambitious journey. As our legal lead, you will own and evolve our lease negotiation process, safeguard commercial agreements, be a key point of contact for corporate transactions, and partner directly with founders and senior directors on strategic decisions across the business.

This role is ideal for a mid-level attorney who?s hungry for ownership, moving beyond an advisory, project based role, and experienced in translating legal nuance into sound business moves. We expect this candidate to have a strong interest in broadening their skillset and a desire to plug into critical workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

Real Estate & Leasing

• Manage and lead legal process for commercial leases across multiple U.S. markets
• Advise on LOIs, term sheets, buildout timelines, landlord interactions, and site-specific risks
• Standardize and maintain leasing playbooks, templates, and position libraries
• Coordinate with brokers, GCs, zoning experts, and municipal authorities as needed
• Ensure compliance with local permitting, signage, and safety requirements

Commercial Legal

Review and negotiate contracts with vendors, partners, and contractors Create and manage templates for NDAs, service agreements, and license deals

• Represent company interests and assist in managing process for corporate transactions such as capital raises and M&A

Internal Counsel & Risk Management

• Guide the team on legal risk across operations, including liability waivers, insurance, and customer disputes
• Manage company structure including strategy, creation of entities and maintenance of federal, state and local compliance
• Advise on corporate governance, IP protection, and cap table reviews as needed
• Engage and manage outside counsel for specialized work (e.g., litigation, complex employment matters)

• J.D. and active U.S. bar membership.
• 5?8 years of experience, with a strong foundation in commercial leasing (ideally tenant-side for retail or entertainment)
• Experience in multi-unit expansion, franchise or location-based entertainment is a major plus
• Comfortable working as a solo legal operator in partnership with leadership team

Requirements & Expectations:

Travel expectations: 0-10% (may be limited to select site visits) Schedule expectations: 45-50 hours per week (deadline exceptions as necessary)
